A Decent Day
Decided to trade the late game in the NFL as the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Chicago Bears 24 – 20 last night. I managed to get a good green by half time and decided to leave the game at that.
I have now just finished trading the tennis between Rafael Nadal and Robin Soderling. Soderling had a comfortable 64,64 win over Nadal who I am sad to say is a shadow of the player that he was even at the start of the year. He is also looking a lot more skinny which I think is reflected in his weight of shot now, where he is dropping a lot of balls too short and consquently getting punished.
Anyway I have decided that’s me for the day so talk soon.
Rollercoaster
The day started of with football and Celtic’s 2 – 1 defeat away to Dundee Utd. I managed to pick up some green in the Under/Over 2.5 goal market but I am gutted that Celtic conceded two goals in the last 5 minutes. I am a big Celtic supporter and have been a long time and I have to say we are horrid at the moment. Mowbray I must admit has had a difficult job to get rid of all the crap Strachan brought into the club, I was never a fan of Strachan and thought some of his signings were dreadful, but Mowbray has us playing awful football and could be in trouble if he doesn’t start to turn things around very quickly!!!!
I also managed to pick up some profit in Blackburn’s 2 nil victory at the Reebok against Bolton, Villarreal’s comfortable 3 – 1 home win against Valloidid and Stoke ’s uninspiring victory against pompey. I also traded Murray’s 3 set win over Del Potro in the YEC in the tennis and Roger Federer’s 3 set win over Fernando Verdasco.
It was the NFL where I had a big loss again in the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens encounter. It was a game I was not planning on getting involved in but did anyway and every move I made was the wrong one and by the end of the 3rd quater I decided to leave it as I was only making things worse , so that was 360 euro wiped from a day’s graft. The Colts won 14 – 12. I managed to get some green in the New York Giants overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons after they blew a 14 point 4th quater lead, and San Diego’s thumping of the Denver Bronco’s.
So all in all, I am not sure what to feel? On the one hand having a 360 euro loss and still ending the day in profit I have to be happy but on the other hand the day could have been so much better but I think looking back I will take profitable days every day. I still have a lot to learn as you can see and I have to keep learning from the mistakes I have made today and since the blog started.
Bye for now.
Football All The Way Today
Current Bank : 2,118.50 Euro
I decided to just stick with the footy today and left the darts alone. The reason was more to do with concentrating on one sport rather than switching constantly between the footy and the darts and leaving myself exposed. I layed Man City pre match away at Anfield where they had a 2 -2 draw with Liverpool, two teams who may be battling for the 4th place come end of season. I also layed Fulham away to Birmingham for the simple reason they were never 2/1 shots. Although Fulham are a gritty well organised team, where I have been very impressed with the results Roy Hodgson has got, but thats all they are and Birmingham have been playing well and have a good chance at staying up this year. Birmingham won 1 nil. I also traded the topsy tursy relegation battle between Hull City and West Ham which ended up 3 – 3.
It was then onto the Spanish La liga action where I picked up my first loser of the day. I backed Athletico Madrid on the Asian Handicap ( 0,0.5) away to Deportivo La Coruna and all was going well with the scores tied at 1 each and the 3 mins of injury time used up. Then a stupid tackle in the box by an Athletico Madrid player saw Deportivo score a peno with the last kick of the game and bang their goes my 60 euro!!!!!!!!!!!
Next I managed to get some green in Real Madrid’s 1 nil win over Racing Santander but somebody made a major rick in the correct score market as they layed 1 nil @ 1000 for 20 quid. What happened was Madrid scored a 2nd goal but was disallowed for offside but there was a bit of a delay before the Madrid players realized it had been chalked of. The market suspended on betfair and then reopened with the score still at 1 nil but the layer was not paying attention and thought it was still 2 nil. Somebody was then sitting on a 20,000 grand liability !!!!!!
I rounded of the day by picking up some profit on the correct score market as Barcelona drew 1 all away to Ath. Bilboa. Off now to get studying tomorrow’s sport.
The Day’s Profit Wiped in the Darts
A sting in the tail for me today as I was in profit for the day until Gary Anderson lost to Scott Waites in the Grand Slam of Darts 10 -9. It was a brilliant match and although Anderson a 1.3 jolly played well, Waites played better than I have ever seen to cost me 150 euro and turn a winning day into a losing one. I am not as disappointed with the loss but more the way I performed myself. I basically froze, Anderson was leading the whole match and I had ample opportunity to green up but done nothing. Then when the market was going against me, I could have reduced my loss considerably but didn’t. For some reason I am still verry poor at going all red and is definitely something that needs to be improved going forward. What makes it more annoying is I traded last night’s NFL game very well.
The game was between my team the Miami Dolphins who were away in Charlotte to the Carolina Panthers. The dolphins came away with an excellent 24 – 17 victory. I have followed the Dolphins since the mid 1980’s and the reason why goes back to my childhood memories. There used to be little packets of minature nfl helmets that you could buy and you got a stick of that awful rock like chewing gum with it. If memory serves my right they were 50p a pop and my Dad bought one each for my brother and I. We decided whatever team we got would be “our” team, I got the dolphins and he got the 49ers.
I need to now keep focused and not push to hard over the weekend after a losing day today and remember there is no time constraints to grow my bank – SLOWEE SLOWEE CATCHEE MONKEE!!!!!!!
Bye for now and good luck over the weekend!!!
The Morning After The Night Before
Well it seems football again has not been remembered across the world today for football reasons alone but for the cheating episode that occured last night. As far as I am concerned now its done, move on but football as a whole really needs to start looking after its image as the so called beautiful game is now being constantly remembered for cheating, diving and the obscence amount of money that average footballers are now earning.
The day has gone well today with me picking up some profit in the Uruguay v Costa Rica World Cup playoff late last night that finished 1 all and had a 7 minute delay as the riot police had to sort out fighting between the two benches during the match!!!! Ah yeah ” the beautiful game “!!!!!!!!
I also had a straight bet on Kevin Painter who comfortably beat Kirk Shepard 10 – 6 in the Grand slam of Darts this evening. I may trade the NFL game tonight between the Dolphins and the Panthers and I MUST REMEMBER TO STAY AWAKE IF I HAVE OPEN POSITIONS.
Bye for now
Absolutely Gutted
Current Bank : 1940.03 Euro
What can you say to the events that unfolded in the Stade de France tonight. After Ireland put in their best performance in at least 3 years and after taking France to extra time for a place in South Africa in next year’s World Cup , our hopes were dashed by a moment of blatant cheating by Thierry Henry, who not only handled the ball once but twice and between them the Linesman and the referee were the only people who didn’t see what had just happened.
Now I know some of you might say, what if the shoe was on the other foot and cheating happens all the time I have to admit it left a bitter taste in my mouth. Although its done and dusted now I have personally lost all respect for Henry now and the is one team I will not be cheering on this summer!!!!!!!
Anyway the day went well with me picking up some profit from the France v Ireland tradegy and the snoozefest that was the Ukraine v Greece match, which say Greece book their place in the finals with a 1 nil win. I also picked up some green last night in the World Gram Slam of Darts.!!
Thats it for now!!!
Darts Was The Order Of The Day
Current Bank : 1804.27 euro
After last night’s hiccup I was very weary of not trying to win back any losses and just take whatever the markets gave me. This resolve was tested even more when even though averaging 103 Co Stompe lost to Kevin Mcdine in today’s first match in the Grand Slam of Darts.
I kept plugging away though and when I felt a market was going against me I didn’t hesitate to get out where as before I would have either done nothing and hoped for the right outcome or panicked!!
Pretty pleased with the day and I am not sure whether I will be able to do anything today as I have a lot on but will blog in the next couple of days.
Bye for now
Payed The Price For Falling Asleep
Current Bank : 1749.45 euro
The Paris Masters finished today in the tennis and the tournament has been very kind to me as well as having a load of low odd gubbings and strange matches. The final was between Novak Djokovic and the local favourite Gael Monfils. Djokovic won the first set 62 playing sublime tennis and then stormed into a 3 nil lead in the 2nd set. But then after Djoko was matched at 1.01 the match turned on its head with Monfils taking the 2nd set 75. The third set saw Djoko storm into a 4-1 lead only to be pegged back again. Eventually Djoko took the match in a final set tiebreaker in what was a great spectacle in the end.
It was then onto the American Football for the evening and night and all was going well until I fell asleep during the late game. The 1st match I was involved in was Tennesse Titans comfortable victory over the Buffalo Bills and San Diego Chargers not so comfortable win over the Philadelphia Eagles. It was then on to the game billed as the game of the Decade between the New England Patriots and the Indianapolas Colts. The Colts took the lead and I then put 250 euro on the Pats who stormed into a 10 point half time lead and at this stage they were trading @ 1.3 ish. They were receiving the ball at the start of the 2nd half, so I decided to wait to see if they scored again and I would then lay of for an all green and if they didn’t my plan was to just take my stake back out of the market.
This where it all went wrong for me as I fell asleep. The pats ended up with a 17 point lead going into the final quater and traded @ 1.01. They where stopped on a 4th down with 2 mins to go, peyton manning drove the colts to a touchdown and the Pats ended up losing 35 – 34 and losing my money with them.
I was and still am very disappointed with the loss as I was looking at cleaaring the 2,000 euro mark but I have to now try forget about it and remember that overall it was a good week and that I am in profit. So, even though sport is very scarce this week, I can’t start chasing. I have to stay calm and keeping trying to build slowly & steadily and stay patient.
Bye for now
Dismal Performance from Ireland
I went out last night to Ireland’s qualifer against France, where we were dismal and beaten 1 nil. We deserved nothing really form the game but having said that France were pretty poor as well. My patrioism cost me or was it just having a bet for the sake of it, as I layed France @ 2.42 but my liability wasn’t too high.
The rest of the day before that though pretty as I had picked up some green in Novak Djokovic’s demolition of Rafael Nadal and GaelurMonfils topsy turvsy victory over Radek Stepanek. I also layed Ukraine away to Greece, where the match finished nil all , in what I can only describe as a painfully boring snoozefest!!!!!
Bye for now
